Our story began in 1967 as SB Electronic Systems, founded by George Sims and Chris Barnett.
From the very beginning, we’ve been pioneers in automatic identification and data capture:
Creators of the Telepen barcode symbology, still internationally recognised today
Developers of one of the first handheld barcode scanners in 1972
Our technology was quickly adopted by leading institutions. The University of Manchester and Sheffield Hallam University were among the first to implement our early systems and decades later, they remain valued customers. That continuity speaks volumes.
