Safety and security are the top priorities for any access control system. From preventing unauthorised access to crowd control, only the most reliable turnstiles and security gates can keep end users safe.
At AdvaNova, every access control unit is installed with these priorities in mind. We couldn’t do this without essential manufacturer-led training from our access control partners, Integrated Design Limited (IDL). Each year, our engineers undergo refresher training to make sure your devices are installed safely, putting customers first.
Why AdvaNova’s engineers undergo regular training
Our long-term training agreement with IDL (the manufacturers behind our access gates and turnstiles) impacts everyone. For example:
- New engineers joining the teams can expand their knowledge
- Existing team members stay abreast of the latest updates
- Customers are assured their products are safe and secure.
We also train our teams to maintain regulatory compliance. As a SafeContractor approved supplier, we have obligations to meet, assuring our customers that every installation meets industry standards.
IDL was the obvious choice for AdvaNova. As manufacturers of the sought-after Fastlane turnstiles, IDL have partnered with us for many years, offering both beginner and refresher courses to our engineers.

What does access control training involve?
Kash Gill, an in-house training provider at IDL, says:
“Our training gives installation and maintenance teams the knowledge and tools to work independently. It builds their confidence, helping ensure smooth-running installations and service visits.”
Training is delivered one-to-one or in small groups, starting with technical principles before moving on to practical work. Sessions include setup, troubleshooting and component integration for all Fastlane products. This hands-on approach helps us visualise all scenarios and pass this knowledge on to our customers, preventing future risks.
The benefits of regular access control training
Refresher training is particularly helpful for fault prevention. To be certifiably safe, each unit needs to be running at 100%. These hands-on training sessions help our engineers to identify even the smallest problems, such as barrier misalignment, before they turn into security risks.
With every AdvaNova project, we deliver training to our customers to help them get the best from their products. We can only do this if we’re up to date with the latest technology – and cognisant of any potential risks.
An access control barrier running sub-optimally has potential for risk, from unauthorised access to fire safety. With regular updates, our engineers know how to identify hazards and keep customers aware. Naturally, this helps us stay compliant, but it also helps clients – ensuring all end users are safe, whatever the situation.

AdvaNova’s access control training in action
Daisy Francis, Operations Director at AdvaNova, says these training sessions support our commitment to safety and quality.
“Refresher installation training is incredibly valuable for AdvaNova. It ensures that our engineers are up to date with the latest product developments and best practices directly from the manufacturer.”
Every session results in an official training certificate from IDL, which in turn supports our SafeContractor accreditation. This has helped AdvaNova deliver on a range of projects, for example, at the University of Sunderland’s academic library.
Our continued training helps us to give our customers the best service possible, assuring safety in a range of situations. Shane Naish, Operations Director at IDL, adds:
“When installers are well-trained, it leads to successful project outcomes, benefits end users and maintains stronger relationships.”
The latter is particularly important for us – not just partnering with our chosen manufacturers, but our customers too.
